DeepSeek: A New Frontier for Domestic Mobile Phones – Is Your Phone Ready?

Throughout the Spring Festival period, two internet phenomena captured widespread attention. Firstly, mobile phone price reductions, which, while not novel, significantly benefited the entire industry and boosted sales. For instance, Xiaomi led activations during the festival (January 27th - February 2nd) with 1.3 million activations, partly fueled by government subsidies. Secondly, DeepSeek emerged as an even hotter topic than the launch of chatGPT, with major domestic manufacturers showing keen interest in adopting it.

DeepSeek's popularity extends beyond national borders, attracting significant international attention. At the end of last month, it topped the US AppStore's free download chart, posing a formidable challenge to chatGPT. However, to truly reach a broad audience, DeepSeek needs to be deeply integrated into mobile phones. Fortunately, domestic manufacturers are already taking swift action.

Recently, it was revealed that Huawei's native HarmonyOS has integrated DeepSeek, enhancing the experience through its large AI model algorithm. Huawei is not alone; all prominent domestic manufacturers have expressed interest in utilizing DeepSeek. Some have even begun integrating it into their AI assistants, hinting at local deployment. This requires top-tier flagship phones due to the high demands on functionality and configuration for offline usage.

For example, the Nubia Z70 Ultra stands out as the first phone to deeply integrate DeepSeek into its system. This differs from the current trend where manufacturers offer DeepSeek through a separate interface, which relies on an internet connection and has less stringent device requirements.

Another notable model is the upcoming OPPO Find N5, which will also deeply integrate DeepSeek. The official announcement confirms that users can directly activate DeepSeek via voice commands without needing a separate interface. It comes pre-installed and doesn't require OTA upgrades, though it currently only supports online searches.

The impact of DeepSeek extends beyond mobile phones, transforming the domestic AI industry. Multiple cloud service providers and even the three major telecom operators—China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom—are fully integrating DeepSeek. With daily active users surpassing 30 million and immense server pressure, it's poised to become a standard feature in future domestic mobile phones.

Are you one of the 30 million users embracing this new trend?
