After competitors have unveiled their annual top-tier flagships, everyone is eagerly awaiting Huawei's latest model. Today, the Mate 70 series has finally met everyone. After watching the conference, the first impression is that it hasn't disappointed. As Yu Chengdong said at the conference, the Mate series has always been imitated but never surpassed. Copying has no future (implying who this statement is aimed at is left to the audience's imagination). The courage to say this stems from the confidence of the Mate 70 series, with two particular black technologies piquing my interest the most.
The first is 'Satellite Paging.' It's undeniable that Huawei phones popularized satellite communication functions. From the satellite messaging of the Mate 50 series to the satellite calls of the Mate 60 series, Huawei has always been a leader in this field. The satellite paging on the Mate 70 series further enhances this functionality, marking another significant technological breakthrough. It is expected to maintain a generational lead over competitors.
Based on the introduction at the conference, my understanding of this feature is that it improves the inconveniences of the previous generation in connecting to satellite signals. There's no need to hold the phone and deliberately search for satellite positions; connections can be made from various angles. Even when placed in a pocket, satellite calls can be received. Once connected, it stays online, eliminating the hassle of frequent connections, greatly enriching and facilitating the user experience in special scenarios.
The second black technology is 'AI AirDrop.' Many have only seen similar scenarios in sci-fi movies, but Huawei has made it a reality. Importantly, it's very convenient to use, representing the latest manifestation of AI technology. Users can recognize gestures through device sensors, and data transfer is achieved through simple grab and release actions. It's anticipated that more complex data transfers will be possible in the future, offering broad application prospects.
Some may ask why not use network transfer directly. New technologies often enrich traditional scenarios, providing users with more options. Just as some prefer fingerprint recognition while others prefer facial recognition, choices are personal. Since Huawei started as a communications company, Yu Chengdong claimed at the conference that the Mate 70 series' communication capabilities live up to those four words, though unspoken, everyone knows it means 'far ahead.'
In special scenarios like concert venues, high-speed trains, and underground garages, the Mate 70 series' communication capabilities have been significantly enhanced, particularly in WiFi speeds. Its imaging capabilities have also been upgraded, with the entire series supporting Red Maple original color imaging, significantly improving color accuracy and reproduction. Regarding the system, users can choose between HarmonyOS 4.3 (compatible with Android) and HarmonyOS 5.0 (native HarmonyOS).
Huawei also announced that all new phones next year will only come with native HarmonyOS, suggesting that perfecting the HarmonyOS ecosystem will take time. Regarding pricing, the standard and Pro versions remain unchanged from the previous generation, but the Pro+ version has seen a rare $50 price reduction.
